The clip of the Japanese restaurant was shared on Instagram Reels by user @allstarseven, a blogger currently living in Japan. “Why Japan is living in the future,” he wrote in the first caption of the video. The Japanese restaurant video has garnered more than 3.9 million views and 203k likes.
In the clip, we can see the blogger enjoying many delicious Japanese dishes such as Sushi, Gyoza and more at the restaurant. Next, he showed us all the plates he ordered piled up in a pile. “I eat a lot. Don’t judge me. Most of the sushi is only $1.20,” he explained in the caption. What the chef does next will surprise you! The chef simply takes a scanning device and scans it across the plates of food. Each plate is scanned by the device and totals up to $24. The way it works is that each plate has a different price, and the chip inside the plates helps the device quickly identify dishes and add up their totals to generate an invoice.
It’s simple and convenient, isn’t it? Instagram users couldn’t help but express their surprise and delight when watching the video of the Japanese restaurant. “They are not called the most disciplined country for no reason,” said one user while another wrote, “It scans the RFID tags on the plates not the color/shape, but still cool.”
