The video was shared on Instagram by a popular handle named @initygirl. “I didn’t realize cornflowers were made like this,” read the caption to the post. In the clip, we can see a pile of cornflowers in the background. Corn flakes are being flattened individually on a stone slab. First, each kernel of corn is inserted into an empty space. Then, with the help of a stone hammer, each nucleus is flattened and set aside. “You think it’s just smashed, but it’s actually the moist heat from the humid impact that pops it,” the page added in the caption.
The cornbread making video went viral with 1.5 million views and 44,000 likes. Several thousand users also commented on the video. “Wait so it’s handmade? I think it has to be automated,” said one user while another wrote, “It’s not cornstarch, it’s Emping, an Indonesian crunchy snack. !” Someone else also said, “I would never take my time to do that…. literally it only takes 2 seconds to eat it.”
