When the sixth round of the group stage kicks in, it’s all about playing to qualify for the knockout stages, or to book a consolation seat in the Europa League.
The group winners and runners-up will advance to the Champions League round of 16, with the third-placed teams advancing to the Europa League preliminary knockout stages. The bottom-ranked teams are eliminated from Europe.

GROUP E
December 8th: Bayern Munich vs. Barcelona, Benfica vs. Dynamo Kiev
Bayern Munich: Made it through to round 16 as a group winner.
Barcelona: Must win against Bayern away from home to be sure to continue. Will also progress if Benfica fails to beat Dynamo.
Benfica: Must win at home against Dynamo to have a chance to continue, and will overtake if Barcelona cannot beat Bayern. Benfica holds the top spot if it’s level with Barca.
Dynamo Kiev: Out of Europe.
GROUP F
December 8th: Atalanta vs. Villarreal, Manchester United vs. Young Boys
Manchester United: Made it through to round 16 as a group winner.
Villarreal: Must avoid defeat against Atalanta to win tickets to the knockout round of the Champions League, and at the same time make sure to attend the Europa League.
Atalanta: Must win at home against Villarreal to progress at UCL, although a point would also secure a Europa League spot.
Young boys: Having been eliminated from the Champions League, but must beat Manchester United and hope Atalanta lose to qualify for the Europa League.
WOOD GROUP Lille: Need at least one point against Wolfsburg to qualify, but if they lose, they will definitely qualify for the Europa League. A win guarantees the top of the table, as does a draw if Salzburg fails to win. Cannot qualify in UCL with a loss. FC Salzburg: A point at home against Sevilla will get them through. They can top the group with a win if they let Lille draw or lose. Can’t get past UCL with a defeat, but that should be enough for the Europa League if Wolfsburg lose or draw. Seville: Had to beat Salzburg to qualify, that would be the winner if Lille lost. A draw is enough to qualify for the Europa League provided Wolfsburg do not win. Wolfsburg: It may be bottom of the table now, but they are guaranteed to finish no lower than second and qualify for UCL if they win at home against Lille. It is also possible to top the table if drawing Salzburg-Sevilla. Couldn’t finish in third place. GROUP OF FRIENDS Chelsea: Passed and just matched Juve’s results to top the table, which of course means a surefire win. Juventus: Also qualified, and must do better than Chelsea’s results to top the group. Zenit St Petersburg: Already eliminated but will be relegated to Europa League. Malmo: Out of Europe.
