1 dead, 18 injured in New Year’s Eve celebration shooting in Karachi, Pakistan

The New Year’s Eve celebration shooting killed an 11-year-old boy and injured 18 others in Karachi, officials said Saturday, officials said.
Boy Reza was hit by a stray bullet in Ajmer Nagri on Friday night and sustained his injuries at Jinnah hospital in Karachi, police said.
An official said: “Due to the aerial shooting, 18 other people were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police had earlier warned of shootings on New Year’s Eve. The Pakistani Medical Association condemned the incident, asking the government to impose a complete ban on aerial shooting on all celebratory occasions.
Former Pakistan cricket team captain Wasim Akram tweeted young people should stay away from acts like “Rambo” and behave like civilized people instead.
