2023 BMW M2 becomes the last non-electric M model
BMW USA has a rich history of the iconic internal combustion engine, but stricter emissions regulations mean it’s already electrified in sight.
In an interview with the German publication BimmerTodayBMW M CEO Frank van Meel Confirms Coming M2 The two-door coupe will be the last M model without any form of electrification.
“We will, of course, see an increase in electrification in other vehicles, in various forms, starting from 48-volt electrical systems and plug-in hybrid systems to drive,” explains van Meel. fully electric,” explained van Meel when translated from German into English.

BMW also claims it will have an electric range of up to 80 km in the WLTP test.
Other electric vehicles that BMW M offers are all-electric vehicles i4 M50 four-door coupe, iX M60 SUV and i7 M70 large sedans. Even so, they are more often performance-oriented than high-performance offerings.

The BMW M is now halfway through its 50th anniversary and it is expected that the M2 will be part of this plan.

In standard guise, the M2 is tipped to have more power than the previous M2 Competition, churning out 302kW and 550Nm from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six-cylinder.
The regular M2, last seen in 2018, puts out 272kW and 465Nm.
It will be offered with both manual and automatic transmissions. Mr. van Meel points out that more than 50% of US buyers and more than 20% of European buyers will choose a manual transmission.
The new M2 Competition is rumored to have increased output to 335kW or even 365kW, with a six-speed manual also expected to continue.
This level of power in the Competition makes M3 and M4 in the crosses of M2. Both put out 353kW and 550Nm in base, hand-wound, with Competition models pumping out 375kW.
BMW M has revealed several new vehicles as part of its celebration.
So far, it has revealed that lighter weight and stronger BMW M4 CSLand M3 and M4 50 Jahre special editions, among others.
BMW has confirmed the reveal plan M3 Touring at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed in June.
Other new BMW M vehicles expected to be revealed this year include M3 CS sedan and a manual equipment M4 GT / FULL.
