MG announced the price for the whole Grade 4 line up, with electric hatchbacks just under $39,000 before hitting the road.
UPDATE 06/19/2023: MG has added an Excite variant to its lineup that has a smaller 51kWh battery. It is coupled with a single electric motor that generates up to 125kW of power and offers a range of 350km on the WLTP cycle. See article for details.
the company has previously confirmed price only for Essence specs with 64 kWh battery at pre-sale. This variant costs $47,990 before the road and offers a range of 435 km on the WLTP cycle.
It has now confirmed pricing for the base Excite (51), which uses a smaller 51kWh battery and costs $38,990 before going live.

The range is topped by the Essence variant which uses a 77 kWh battery with a range of 530 km. This costs $55,990 before on-road costs.
A more powerful X-Power dual-engine all-wheel drive variant is “under scrutiny” to join the lineup closer MG 4 launch in the second half of 2023.
Not like existing ZS EVUsing an internal combustion vehicle platform, the MG 4 sits on the brand’s new modular Scalable Platform, featuring rear-wheel drive and a 50:50 weight distribution.
With a base price of just under $39,000 before hitting the road, the MG 4 is one of the cheapest electric vehicles in Australia.
The Standard Range GWM Ora hatches start at $43,990 before on-road costs or from $44,490 to $47,891 when driving away, depending on the state.
MG’s own ZS EV Excite, about to be discontinued, starting at $43,990 before on-road or from $46,195 to $49,130 when driving away, again depending on the state.

drive system
MG 4 Excite 51 production 125kW Powered by a rear-mounted electric motor, combined with a 51 kWh battery, provides a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds.
2023 MG 4 production 150kW Powered by a 64 kWh battery, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds.
With a larger 77kWh battery, power is increased by up to 180kW while the 0-100km/h time is claimed to be under 7.0 seconds.
All models have a single-engine rear-wheel drive setup, although a two-engine four-wheel drive variant is under consideration.
Effective
The range for the 2023 MG 4 series in the tighter WLTP cycle is as follows:
- Stimulus (51kWh): 350km
- Stimulus (64kWh): 450km
- Core (64kWh): 435km
- Core (77kWh): 530km
The 51kWh battery can be charged by AC and DC charging. DC fast charging is limited to 88kW while AC charging speed of 6.6 kW is also available.
The 64kWh battery can be charged up to 140kW using a DC charger. It will take 26 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent at full DC charging speed.

The MG 4 is 4287mm long, 2060mm wide (including mirrors) and 1504mm tall on a 2705mm wheelbase.
It has 363L trunk space, which expands to 1177L when the rear seats are folded.
MG quotes 500kg towing capacity for MG 4.
Service and Warranty
All MG 4 models come with a 7-year unlimited km warranty.
Service prices are yet to be announced.
Safety
The MG 4 has yet to be tested by ANCAP, however its sister agency Euro NCAP has given it a five-star rating for 2022.
This is based on ratings of adult passenger protection of 83%, child passenger protection of 80%, vulnerable passerby protection of 75% and safety assistance of 78%.
