2023 Volkswagen Amarok V6 longer, wider and wider
Volkswagen Commercial continues to provide a trickle of information about its new second-generation Amarok ahead of its full launch sometime between 2022 and is expected to arrive in Australia in early 2023.
The latest images show what the VW pickup will look like, although the versions shown in the render have unrealistically wider wheels and tires than flares and a W580-style body kit.
VW has left a small amount of meat on the bones, revealing the new Amarok will be 100 mm (5350 mm) longer, which means larger rear legroom compared to the outgoing pokey model, as well as wider in the body.
Now, based on the same Australian-made T6 platform as the new Ford Ranger – which we have detailed here – The new Rok will again use the V6 TDI engine, now expected to be the same Ford (for example the F-150) as Ranger said, with all-wheel drive.
Developed by teams in Australia and Europe, the latest version of the so-called (by VW) “premium pickup” will be produced in Silverton, South Africa in the future. In contrast, the Ranger will continue to have its roots in Thailand.
Australia is one of the Amarok’s few key markets, which will only become more apparent with the new model’s Aussie DNA.
Volkswagen Commercial also promises to bring new driver assistance features in the segment, superior off-road capability, more comfortable and upscale interior, as well as a significant body redesign.
“We emphasized the distinctive and expressive front design of our pickup with the enticing Amarok signature also found with the very large letters on the front,” said Volkswagen Head of Design. cargo box in the back and sports Amarok is very proud of.” Commercial vehicle Albert-Johann Kirzinger.
“Needless to say, a Euro pallet fits snugly between the wheel covers – and loads can, of course, be secured. The styling bar as a visual extension of the double cabin in the cargo compartment gives the Amarok body a very strong dynamic, aerodynamics and proportions once again. ”
Volkswagen previously told CarExpert it has “over the last two years a team from Germany based in Melbourne developing the second generation Amarok” alongside the Ford Ranger global development center based here.
“What you see here is very much like a Volkswagen,” Ryan Davies saysVolkswagen Commercial Car, Country Sales Manager Australia.
He added: “Amarok has genuine Volkswagen DNA. “This is a car for which our designers in Melbourne and in Europe have worked tirelessly over the past few years, to create a car that embodies what we know is the absolute attribute of Volkswagen. .”
