2023 Volkswagen Amarok wheels and arches teased
Drip, drip, drip images for the second generation Volkswagen Amarok continues ahead of Prince’s full launch on July 7, 2022, European time.
Overnight, the German automaker released photos showing the Amarok’s square front wheel arches, as well as one of the vehicle’s wheel designs.
Beneath the skin, Amarok is based on the latest equipment Ford Rangerbut Volkswagen has invested a lot of effort and money to differentiate the exterior and interior from its platform companion.
From the trailers revealed so far, we know the Amarok’s front end will feature rectangular headlights and the overall design is an evolution of today’s e-car. LED headlights will be standard and LED matrix lights will be available on high-spec models.
The rectangular wheel arches revealed today appear to be influenced by the Taos and Atlas crossovers. The sketch shows that the rear will have similar perpendicular arches.
At the rear, Volkswagen will have a unique taillight design and the tailgate is boldly decorated with ‘Amarok’.
To draw more distance between Volkswagen and Ford, Amarok will have a unique dashboard design. While the Amarok will be available with the Ranger’s 12.0-inch portrait touchscreen, the German watch will feature a line of airplane-style physical switches beneath the large display.
Under the bonnet, the Amarok will get Ranger’s 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine, and it’s likely Volkswagen will also use Ford’s 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel and 2.3-liter four-cylinder petrol.
Like the Ranger, a significant part of the design and engineering was done in Australia, with Volkswagen running a team at Ford Australia’s design studios.
The new Australian version of the Amarok will be built in South Africa, while today’s pickup is built in Argentina. The Ford Ranger continues to have its roots in Thailand.
