Hours after manufacturing company Foxconn had completed acquisition of the ex-GM Lordstown production facility in Ohio, electric vehicle (EV) start-up Fisker had confirmed its second vehicle, the Pearwill be produced there.
Scheduled to begin production in 2024, Fisker says it expects to build a minimum of 250,000 examples of the Pear yearly once production ramps up.
Fisker claims the Pear will have a starting price of $US29,990 ($A43,553), and has already opened reservations for it at $US250 ($A363).
As part of the announcement, Fisker revealed a new teaser image of the Pear which shows it from the front three-quarter angle. Previously we had only seen it cryptoically from the top and the back.
From what can be seen in the teaser, it looks like the Pear is small, city-centric hatchback with four doors, pop-out door handles, and a front light bar with ‘Pear’ lettering in the middle.
Fisker has previously indicated the Pear is around 4500mm long (similar to the Volkswagen Tiguan) and has room for five people.
It’ll be built on a new proprietary architecture, which will underpin the two additional Fisker models set to follow the Pear.
“The Pear will be a revolutionary electric vehicle that won’t fit into any existing segment,” said Fisker chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker.
“The exterior design will feature new lighting technology and a wraparound front windscreen inspired by a glider plane glass canopy, enhancing frontal vision.”
“Our engineering group is working on new features and high-tech solutions for the PEAR that will change how we use and enjoy a vehicle in the city.”
For now Fisker is remaining tight-lipped about the Pear’s electric powertrain, battery capacity, and range. It says additional details and specs will be released closer to delivery.
Seeing it’s smaller than the larger Ocean SUV and has a starting price that is around $US8000 ($A11,618) cheaper, the Pear is expected have a shorter range and be less powerful.

Project Ronin concept
Currently, Magna-Steyr is gearing up to begin production of the Fisker Ocean from November 17, 2022 at a carbon-neutral factory in Graz, Austria.
Fisker is on a teaser train at the moment, as it recently showed of images of the upcoming Project Ronin four-door convertible.
Set to receive a tri-motor all-wheel drive powertrain, Mr Fisker has promised the Ronin will have a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time “close to 2 seconds”. It also has a targeted range of 600 miles (965km).
Development of the Ronin concept began last year, and Fisker says it expects to reveal it in August 2023 with production starting in the second half of 2024.
