Genesis has opened the lid on not just a new version of it Electrochemical G80 sedan but also the high-performance Magma version.
The Genesis G80 EV Magma concept was revealed at this week's Beijing auto show alongside its tamer sibling, Car expert understood to be here in early 2025.
It follows the recent reveal of the G80 Magma Concept, a tweaked version of the brand BMW 5 series the rival is expected to be offered only in the Middle East.
It is unclear how many markets the production version of this new electric version will be offered in.
Genesis hasn't revealed specifications so it's unclear whether there will be any changes to the 272kW/700Nm four-motor all-wheel-drive electric powertrain.
However, the company has confirmed that it has “a wider track-tuned suspension” for improved traction and cornering, and has larger brakes.
It rides on lightweight 21-inch wheels with staggered tire widths, located under wider fenders, and Genesis has also lowered the ride height.
Aesthetic changes include a redesigned front grille, rear diffuser and ducktail spoiler to optimize airflow and a new rear bumper for a “more imposing presence on the road” has integrated fog lights “reminiscent of iconic racing cars”.
Inside, the car gets Alcantara and leather upholstery as well as carbon fiber details with blue weaving.
“Introducing the Genesis Magma to China marks our expansion into a new realm of driving experience,” said SangYup Lee, Genesis Global Design Director.
“The G80 EV Magma Concept is a stunning demonstration of both our design and engineering capabilities, as well as our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of Chinese consumers in pursuit of optimal performance, represented by the beautiful and exclusive Acme Blue in China.”
Speaking of blue, the refreshed Electrified G80 was also revealed in Beijing in a new color aimed at Chinese buyers: Vision Blue, which originates from the noble blue in Chinese culture.
Like its internal combustion engine-powered versions, the updated Electrified G80 features a redesigned grille and headlights with Micro Lens Array technology, along with a refreshed front bumper.
The big news here, however, is that the dimensions have increased: the wheelbase has been stretched by 130mm.
Luxury brands often do this in this segment for the Chinese market, such as the Jaguar XF L and Audi A7 L, rather than forcing buyers to step up to the next segment.
It's unclear whether this long body will be offered outside of China.
Genesis says the extra length makes the Electrified G80 more closely resemble the brand BMW 7 series– Rival G90 sedan.
The 19-inch dish-style wheels are also reminiscent of those on the G90, and feature additional chrome trim.
Inside there are reclining rear seats with footrests, memory position and massage function. The rear doors have quilted interior trim and are easy to open and close.
There is an electronic charging port cover on the outside.

Genesis says it has further reduced noise, vibration and harshness, while the Electrified G80 benefits from changes made to the refreshed gasoline-powered G80.
These include a 27-inch OLED display incorporating a digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, along with a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
The Electrified G80 is one of three electric Genesis models available at the moment and one of two – one GV70 electrification is the other – based on a combustion vehicle platform.
Genesis sold just 11 electrified G80s in Australia last year, compared with 44 BMW i5s and 437 EQE of Mercedes-Benz.
