422 Omicron cases in India, most in Maharashtra, followed by Delhi
New Delhi:
The number of cases of the fast-spreading Omicron variant has risen to 422 in India, with Maharashtra reporting the most infections. The Ministry of Health said this morning at least 130 people have recovered.
Maharashtra – which has also reported the most cases of coronavirus – has 108 cases as the new variant. The next western state is Delhi, which has 79 cases. Gujarat has 43 cases and Telangana 41 cases.
In view of the rapidly spreading variant of Omicron, India on Saturday announced booster shots for frontline and healthcare workers and people over 60 from January 10. In a post Speaking late at night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced vaccination for children aged 15 to 18 as of January 3.
