52 students infected, Maharashtra school sealed
Ahmednagar, Maharashtra:
19 children were found to have Covid-19 at Jawahar Navodaya University of Maharashtra, after which 450 students were tested for the virus. Currently, 33 more children have tested positive. A total of 52 people tested positive for Covid at the school. The school has been cordoned off and the area has been declared a restricted area.
The school is located at Takli Dhokeshwar in the Ahmednagar district of the state.
The number of infections with the fast-spreading Omicron variant of Covid has risen to 422 in India, with Maharashtra reporting the most infections. The state has also reported the highest number of Covid cases. It has 108 instances of the new variant. According to the Health Ministry, 42 people have recovered in the condition so far.
