WhatsApp introduces Flash message and call level reporting safety feature in India
WhatsApp has introduced two new safety features in India – instant call and message level reporting. Then, allow the user to report the account by flagging a specific message. The quick call feature is an addition to the authorized SMS verification option during the registration process on WhatsApp. WhatsApp says that these two features were introduced to ensure that the user experience remains secure. In addition to end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp offers a host of safety features such as blocking contacts, controlling who you share it with, disappearing messages, and locking apps with Touch ID or Face ID.
The instant messaging app has implemented instant call and message level reporting features as part of its efforts to make the platform more secure. New quick call feature gives users the option to verify their phone number through an automated call, as opposed to an SMS message during setup WhatsApp on a new phone or reinstall it on a new phone. This feature is currently only available for Android users. This path allows WhatsApp to call and verify automatically, eliminating the need for any other SMS verification actions. WhatsApp claims that this is a much more secure option as it happens all from within the app.
For message level reporting, WhatsApp users can now report accounts to WhatsApp by flagging a specific message. This can be done by long-pressing a specific notification to report or block the user. In its latest transparency report, WhatsApp says that it is forbidden more than 2.2 million accounts in September alone. While most of the banned accounts are due to automated tools used by WhatsApp to track individual accounts.
Other safety features introduced by WhatsApp include the ability to control who sees a user’s profile picture, last seen, referrals, and Status. It also allows users to block accounts if required. WhatsApp also offers two-step verification for users to add an extra layer of security. For group chats, WhatsApp has a group privacy setting that allows users to control who adds them. The company recently introduced disappearing messages and the One-Time View. The latter allows the user to send a photo or video that will disappear on WhatsApp once the recipient has opened it once.
