Chris Noth defends Sarah Jessica Parker in failed Kim Cattrall
At least the actor who played him in “Sex and the City” is sticking with the actress who played her.
Noth plays Mr. Big, the love interest of Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw, while Cattrall plays one of her best friends, Samantha Jones.
While Noth and Parker are reviving their roles in the new HBO Max series, Cattrall is not involved. (HBO Max and CNN are both part of WarnerMedia.)
Noth told Cattrall’s “The Guardian” “I had absolutely no idea what her thoughts were, or how she felt.”
“I know that I’m very close to SJ and [Cattrall’s] the descriptions of her don’t even come close,” he said. I like [Cattrall], I thought she was amazing on the show and some people went on for their own reasons. I don’t know what hers is. “
“I just wish that the whole thing had never happened because it was so sad and uncomfortable,” he added.
For years, there has been speculation about tension between Parker and Cattrall.
“Today my mom asked me ‘When will @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?”, Cattrall wrote in the photo’s caption. “Your constant outreach is a painful reminder of how ruthless you really were then and now.”
“Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You’re not my family. You’re not my friend,” she added. “So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy to restore your ‘nice girl’ personality.”
Parker said at the time: “I find it very frustrating because that’s not how I recall my experience.
CNN has reached out to a Cattrall representative for comment on Noth’s interview.
“And Just Like That…:” premieres on HBO Max Thursday.
