Elden Ring added a tutorial to its tutorial section
Elden Ring’s New players can easily skip this tutorial, but it seems FromSoftware is looking to change that with the game. Update 1.04. The new patch adds a tutorial prompt that explains, well, instructions.
FromSoftware fans have long enjoyed the studio’s esoteric game design, which requires players to learn things by trial and error, but Elden Ring provided a solid middle ground with features that made the game a little more accessible.
This has included an ever larger collection of explanatory text boxes and even A full tutorial section that explains the core mechanics through a combination of text and gameplay.
Known as the Cave of Knowledge, the surprisingly detailed tutorial (for a Souls game at least) guides players through things like guarding, invisibility, and using weapon. FromSoftware veterans may find this guide re-emphasizes something they’ve known for a decade, but it’s an important part of the experience for newbies.
The Cave of Knowledge is located in the Stranded Graveyard at the beginning of the game. It can be accessed by dropping into a pit next to a spectral NPC on a chair, who will hint at in the instructions below. However, many people seem to have missed the pit entirely, or chose not to jump into the dark pit because, well, it’s a Souls game.
While there’s no mention of it in the 1.04 patch notes, FromSoftware surreptitiously added a new auto text box that appears as the player approaches the pit, which would explain that the instructions are underneath. You can see a screenshot (taken by IGN) of the new prompt:
While many IGN staffers have been able to enable reminders since the update, a bit of testing has revealed that – at least for now – the prompt does not appear for all players after the update, even on new save. We will update this story if and when we learn more.
Elden Ring’s 1.04 update also includes a many bug fixes and performance improvements, increased Colossal weapons and some spells, and some new event stages for everyone’s favorite patches. It also Nerfs a popular way to defeat the extremely difficult boss Malenia – You can be hope to meet Let Me Solo Her.
