Joseph Parker and Joe Joyce have agreed to trade on September 24 on BT Sport Box Office
Via Craig Daly: In a long overdue bout, former heavyweight champion Joseph Parker and undefeated 2016 Olympic silver medalist Joe Joyce have agreed to a deal in the UK on BT Sport Box Office on September 24. The fight will be announced on Thursday in a press conference.
Mike Coppinger was the first to get coverage of the Parker-Joyce fight. It’s a great fight but it’s hardly pay-per-view worth it. If it showed up on the regular BT Sport, it would hit great numbers, but putting it on PPV might be a step too far and will alienate fans from it.
Parker-Joyce is clearly an uphill fight to make, given that the 30-year-old former WBO champion Parker fights on Sky and gets to serve with Boxxer. In contrast, Joyce fights on BT Sport and has Frank Warren as his promoter.
Parker (30-2, 21 and Joyce were expected to play last April, but they failed to reach an agreement.WBO 2nd, 3rd WBC Parker will play by unanimous decision 12. half against last laner Derek Chisora December at AO Arena in the UK This is a huge improvement for Parker, considering the first game against Chisora.
“BT Sport Box Office will televise the war in the UK, sources said,” Coppinger told ESPN.
Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs) has been looking great lately, beating these solid boxers by knockout:
- Christian Hammer
- Carlos Takam
- Daniel Dubois
- Michael Wallisch
Despite the lack of hand speed, ‘The Juggernaut’, #1 WBO, #2 WBC, #5 IBF, proved to be superior to other heavyweights in the class.
One could go as far as to say that Joyce is the top heavyweight in the league, and should be seen as the favorite against Parker.
New Zealander Parker is a tough fighter, but he lacks the courage to fight the bravery needed in some of the toughest fights of his career against Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz Jr and Dillian Whyte.
Even against Chisora, Parker seemed to lack the courage to perform bravely the way he needed to win the right decision in their first fight in May 2021.
Indeed, many boxing fans believe Parker’s decisive 12-round win over Chisora was controversial.
