Goffs UK’s spring 2023 in-store sale ended on Tuesday with four lots making six figures. That solid deal came from behind the record British shipment, a stout £210,000 Blue Bresil, who sold from Goldford Stud to Highflyer Bloodstock in Doncaster on Monday.
It’s a completely risk-free [lot 271], sold from Moanmore Stables to the Monbeg Stables top outfit, who took the lead on Tuesday when it sold for £125,000. Tuesday’s top batch came from the families of Class 1 winners Stormy Ireland, Stormy River and Silverwave.
Of the 254 lots offered for sale at the two-day store, 206 sold for an average price of £29,327, while the average price was £23,250. The total amount was £6,041,300, down more than £1 million from last year, but due to less than 20 horses sold.
Goffs UK chief executive Tim Kent commented: “Record high prices and record-equivalent six-figure price numbers have been the clear headline stories of the past two days but the moments we all have will remember for years to come as the outstanding £210,000 hit for Goldford Stud’s dirty Blue Bresil in yesterday’s trading session. This is a new British record for a shop and it’s a stunning outcome for the Aston family following the grieving passing of Richard just weeks ago. “They’ve had incredible success in this sale over the years and they’ve topped sales 11 times, so it’s a fitting tribute for them to break the record again in Doncaster. fit for Richard.”
He added, “Far from the flagship market, trading was a bit more selective but the vendors were realistic with their expectations, which helped contribute to a very substantial payout ratio. respect is 81%. Along with the launch of our new £100,000 Spring Sale Buffer in March, now the richest cache in the world, it’s another successful chapter for the Spring Store Sale Doncaster and we look forward to continuing the action tomorrow as we kick off the Spring Sale of HIT/PTP from 10am.”
