Afghans caught up in the devastating earthquake that struck on June 22, which killed more than 1,000 people and injured more than 6,000, are sharing their painful stories.
Krushnal, a survivor from Barmal, said: “I saw bodies being pulled from the rubble, injured people and possibly dead people. “I heard cries of pain everywhere I went.” He is still living with his four children on the site of the collapsed house.
The United Nations Migration Agency (IOM) was able to react quickly, sending emergency shelter items to the affected area. The next step is to help the community clear the rubble and safely rebuild their damaged homes.
