After Drubbing, Bengali Minister says Parliament should merge with Trinamool
Panjim:
After a humiliating defeat to Congress in five state parliamentary elections, the Trinamool Congress proposed that the old major party should merge with the Trinamool Congress. Parliament lost Punjab to the Aam Aadmi Party and was left with only two seats in Uttar Pradesh politically while the BJP retained UP, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. In Goa, TMC’s MGP ally was set to win a few seats and play kingship in the coastal state while Congress also suffered significant losses there.
“I can’t understand why an old party like Congress, we are also part of it, should be wiped out. Congress should merge with TMC. This is the right time. Then on a national scale. With the principles of (MK) Gandhi and Subhash (Chadra Bose), we can fight against the principles of (Nathuram) Godse,” said Firhad Hakim, Transport Minister of West Bengal.
