After Nelly’s reported $50m deal with HarbourView, company buys ‘select’ recorded music and publishing assets from Wiz Khalifa
HarborView Equity Partners announced a second deal with an American hip-hop star this week.
The company has agreed to buy what it calls “selected recorded music and publishing assets” from multi-platinum multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated artist Wiz Khalifa.
The deal came just hours after HarborView announced that it has acquired “select recorded music content” by Grammy-winning rapper, Nelly.
The financial terms of the Nelly deal were not disclosed, but TMZ report that Nelly had secured $50 million for 50% ownership of his entire portfolio.
Terms of the Wiz Khalifa transaction were also not disclosed.
Assets in deal with Wiz Khalifa include his hits See you soon, Black & Yellow, and The Thrill, and spanned his career through dozens of albums, tapes and collaborations with what HarborView calls “some of the biggest names in entertainment”.
Wiz’s career in entertainment spans multiple businesses and media genres, including ownership of an independent record label, management company and lifestyle brand – Taylor Gang.
HarborView was founded by former Tempo Music CEO Sherrese Clarke Soares with support from Apollo Global Management.
The company says it owns a catalog of more than 20,000 songs, including major recordings and publishing income streams.
