Ajax to pay 7.85 million euros to the family of former player Abdelhak Nouri
Ajax Amsterdam will pay 7.85 million euros ($8.9 million) to the family of their former player Abdelhak Nouri, who suffered brain damage after a heart attack on the pitch in 2017the Dutch champion said on Monday.
Nouri, now 24, made his debut in 2016-17, but his playing career ended prematurely after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a pre-season game against Werder Bremen in T-shirt.
Despite being revived on the pitch and taken to the hospital, Nouri still suffered permanent and severe brain damage. Ajax admits to having received medical care during the acute phase on the pitch incomplete and admits responsibility for the consequences.
Ajax said it had reached an agreement with Nouri’s family and that pre-arbitration proceedings were terminated as a result of an amicable settlement.
“We all recognize that the suffering for Abdelhak and his loved ones is not over yet. It is still a very sad situation, that’s how we feel here at Ajax.” , Ajax General Manager Edwin van der Sar said in a declare.
“We greatly appreciate how the family takes care of Abdelhak day and night with so much love and care. When I visit him, I am always greeted with open arms by the family.

Ajax, who continued to pay Nouri after the incident, officially canceled his contract in March 2020.
