Al-Shabaab: US says it killed 12 fighters in Somalia airstrike

US Africa Command says it killed 12 people al-Shabaab warrior in a remote part of Somalia on Friday to support that country’s federal government and military.
No civilians were injured or killed, AFRICOM said in a statement Sunday, due to the remote location of the attack, about 472 kilometers northeast of the Somali capital Mogadishu.
“The rooting of extremism requires intervention that goes beyond traditional military means,” the command said.
The United States has provided ongoing support to the Somali government since President Joe Biden last year Approved the Pentagon’s request to redeploy US troops in the region in an effort to combat the terrorist group al-Shabaab.
