Cher Horowitz has been a shopper since 1995, and she’s back with some key styling tips. Front LVII Super Cup, Alicia Silverstone teamed up with cash-back shopping app Rakuten for a “Clueless”-inspired promotional spot that was released on February 6. “I used to be pretty shady about shopping,” Silverstone said when she entered the debating class nearly 30 years after Cher’s debut. In the video, she’s wearing an updated version of her character’s classic plaid blazer and yellow mini skirt.

The modernization of Cher’s outfit came from Christian Siriano, a longtime friend and collaborator of Silverstone. Two-piece set — an homage to “Clueless” costume designer Mona May and director Amy Heckerling — wearing a black and yellow plaid blazer with red stripes and a matching skirt. Instead of Cher’s sunny yellow sweater, Siriano wore a blazer over a white turtleneck T-shirt. He styled the look with a crystal necklace featuring the fictional high school student’s first letter. The ensemble will make its catwalk debut at Siriano’s ready-to-wear show during New York Fashion Week on February 9.
Silverstone told POPSUGAR of the designer, who appeared in the commercial: “Christian always dresses me well, so I knew he would know how to do this and I think he did a great job. great”. “He did a great job with it because it was more of a schoolgirl and now it’s a bit more complicated and edgy because obviously I’m not 17 yet.”
Silverstone explains that Siriano also helps enhance her personal appreciation of fashion. “I felt like I was standing in front of an artist,” she said. “I was so inspired by him and I felt really safe because I loved his vision.”
With “Clueless” out for 28 years, it only makes sense to revive Cher’s wardrobe. “I think many of us would agree that Cher is one of the most iconic shoppers in cinematic history,” Silverstone said. “25 years later, people still love fashion, and it influences a lot of designers today and yesterday, and it still does. Every year I hear someone say ‘Clueless'” really fashionable [sphere] this year,” and I said, “That was last year. And that was last year.'”
Other pieces in the ad include Cher’s red wool vest, her black and white miniskirt, and a new denim outfit for the character. Silverstone was even able to retain some pieces from the footage. “Stella McCartney has these loafers with big chunky gold pieces on them, and I brought those home and I can’t wait,” she said of the shoes her stylist paired with the top. wool vest. “I’ve worn them once, and they’re really cool.”

In our interview, Silverstone wore black jeans, a used sweater, and a coat from the Root brand that she got from The RealReal. “I like to imagine that I look French chic, but I’m sure Christian would think that’s not true,” she jokes. While Silverstone doesn’t consider herself as fashion-savvy as Cher – ultimately keeping her distance from style trends – her personal wardrobe embodies a defining theme: sustainability.

Add 90’s nostalgia, Silverstone’s “Clueless” co-star Elisa Donovan takes on the role of Amber Maries in the commercial. While their reunion was brief, Silverstone was thrilled to be reunited with his arch-enemy on screen. “We didn’t talk much but we did the scene together and had a lot of fun,” she said. “We hugged each other tightly and it was great to see her.” A few months earlier, Silverstone also reunites with Stacey Dashwho played Dionne Davenport in the film.
The fan won a Restart “Clueless” for several years. Silverstone hasn’t confirmed whether she’ll reprise her role as Cher in a feature-length film, but the 60-second Super Bowl commercial gives us a hopeful glimpse into what could be.
