Aloha West retires to Mill Ridge
West Aloha (Spin hard–Island Bound, by Sightstown), winner of the 2021 GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint, has retired and will begin his stallion career next year at Mill Ridge Ranch for a fee of US$10,000.
Owned by Eclipse Purebred Partners and coached by Wayne Catalano, Aloha West also placed second in last year’s GII Stoll Keenon Phoenix S. and third in this year’s GI Churchill Downs S. He retired with six wins in 13 starts and earned $1,507,290.
“This horse has the potential to be a great stallion because it has two important factors, speed and heart. And he was beautiful,” Catalano said.
Aloha West will be available to test starting Monday and every day of the Keeneland November sale at 2pm
Price Bell, general manager of Mill Ridge Farm, said: “Last week we partnered with Aloha West and had a team of breeders involved. “He is an interesting prospect to join Oscar Performance because he has speed, pedigree blend, good looks and good price. Eclipse is a great partner and we look forward to the future for Aloha West and his steed career. He will live in his grandmother’s booth, Gone West.
