AlphaTauri has become the latest F1 team to reveal images of their new car, the AT03, ahead of the 2022 Formula One season.
The Red Bull-owned team released the first digital image of its new car on Monday after launching the video online on the Scuderia AlphaTauri’s YouTube channel.
The car will be driven by Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda and powered by an updated version of last year’s Honda engine, reimagined under the name Red Bull powertrain, now Honda has left F1.
“I am delighted to finally reveal what our 2022 Formula 1 car will look like,” said principal Franz Tost. “It’s a whole new era for F1 and we hope that this package will be very strong, following last year’s success.
“Once again, we worked closely with AlphaTauri to launch our new car, and I think we’ve managed to deliver something very special.”
AlphaTauri is Red Bull’s fashion brand, and the team’s launch video features drivers dressed in AlphaTauri along with a CGI model of the new car.
A press release says “The actual AT03 will make its first official F1 appearance at testing in Barcelona next week, but in the meantime, improvements [launch] the video tells the story of the synergy between fashion and motorsport through three main pillars”.
It added: “It begins with a Monolith in the CGI world, representing the team’s technology, state-of-the-art facilities and know-how of the people who built the car.
“Then each element moves towards the second pillar, the Portal – representing the AlphaTauri and its technology – ‘outfits’ the AT03, the drivers and the model, as they move in. real world, World of AlphaTauri.
“This final pillar represents the product of a partnership where ‘Style Of A New Era’ is realized across both fashion and F1.”
The AT03 is designed to meet the new F1 specifications, which have changed the look of this year’s cars and are intended to promote greater ability to excel in races.
However, by only releasing digital renders of the vehicle and not final product shots, AlphaTauri is likely to hide some key design details until launch.
“With the widespread change to aviation regulations, there is clearly a lot of scope for testing new ideas and new aviation concepts, but at the same time new regulations also increase the risk of going wrong. the wrong way,” said technical director Jody Egginton.
“I’m pretty sure there are plenty of opportunities for teams to come up with innovative aeronautical solutions but at the same time, I hope that the hidden details in the aeronautical development process will be a significant contribution to these. What teams can gain from aviation regulations .

As part of AlphaTauri’s connection to the senior Red Bull team, the new AT03 will share a number of components with the new Red Bull RB18, which has yet to be revealed despite being launched last week.
“For 2022, the field of synergy [with Red Bull] at the end – the gearbox, the hydraulics, the rear suspension, are arranged pretty much like what we’ve had in the past,” added Egginton.
“The difference is that, due to the regulatory change, both teams will be running the same parts specification in 2022, whereas before we were running parts under an age-old Red Bull design. .”
