AMANN Group opens new sustainable production plant in India
AMANN officially opened its first manufacturing plant in Ranipet/Tamil Nadu in India. AMANN has been represented in India since 2007 with sales offices in Chennai, Bangalore and Gurgaon. Today, the company is taking its business a step further and has started preliminary manufacturing of its products in India for India.
German AMANN Group inaugurated a sustainable manufacturing factory in Ranipet, India. Equipped with advanced technology, this facility specializes in high-quality sewing and embroidery threads for leather and clothing. With a commitment to environmental stewardship, the factory practices Zero Liquid Discharge and renewable energy sources.
Peter Morgalla, AMANN Board member and Chairman of AMANN India:
“We are very proud to put this factory into operation today. We have closed the gap and can now offer customers a comprehensive network of sales offices, delivery options and short delivery times across Asia. Furthermore, we will also provide Technical Consulting Services to customers to exploit the full potential of our products.”
Main figures about the new factory:
- Location: Ranipet/Vellore in Tamil Nadu in “leather belt”
- Product range: high quality sewing and embroidery threads for leather and garment applications
- Factory area: 32,000 square meters
- Employees: 200
Not a single drop of wastewater falls to the ground
The investment in the new production site reflects AMANN's serious commitment to the environment. The latest production technologies help reduce waste water.
Sustainability profile of the new factory:
- Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) filters 100% of the extracted water
- Powered by 100% renewable sources
By using a zero liquid discharge (ZDL) system, all extracted water is retained in a closed cycle system. Only 9% of fresh water must be replenished due to evaporation.
Energy needs are primarily met by a comprehensive photovoltaic system, with additional needs provided by a nearby solar and wind park. The boiler for steam production – important for the fiber dyeing process – operates on biomass.
AMANN goes even further
For AMANN, profits and good business are not mutually exclusive. At its new production plant, the company has implemented
- Suitable working conditions, tested and certified according to Indian Regulations and German Manufacturing Standards – reviewed annually
- Gender equality
- AMANN Kindergarten / Kindergarten
- Primary health care
For its customers, AMANN will provide Technical Consulting Services including in-house training, testing and materials analysis. In addition to its high-quality product portfolio, AMANN also develops, together with its customers, special threads to meet their individual needs.
Sanjeev Grewal, sales director for Southwest Asia and Middle East and managing director of AMANN India, emphasized: “Success is always the result of trustworthy cooperation. Global brands and Indian customers are the key to our success. We are grateful for the long-standing business relationships that have provided the foundation for our present-day role in the Indian sewing thread industry as a leader in quality and innovation.”
