Amazon bans Bot Ark accounts lost, humans caught in Crossfire
by Amazon Diablo-like role-playing games, Lost Chest, over 1.3 million people played it at launch. It has cooled down since then, but still tens of thousands of people log in every week to enjoy it. Or they would, if they weren’t banned for no reason.
Last weekAmazon decided to do some housekeeping and started a wave of bans, ostensibly targeting bot accounts. However, a lot of people actually get caught up in bans as well, and what makes things worse is that for Steam players who are also seen as having a ban on their Steam account, this is a drawback. severity scores in their overall profile.
Amazon was quickly notified of this and over the weekend was “actively working to reverse them for all affected players regardless of whether a support ticket was submitted or not”. For Steam players in particular, who are sweating over the consequences of being banned from their accounts, Amazon says the reversal will not only “remove your game ban” but also “any any traces on your Steam account”.
The company released this statement over the weekend:
Hello Heroes of Arkesia,
Following the recent wave of bot bans, we’ve noticed an increased number of ban claims from players who were incorrectly affected by these bans.
We have identified the bug that triggered these false bans and are actively working to reverse them for all affected players regardless of whether a support ticket has been submitted or not. This will remove the game ban and any traces on your Steam account. We will let players know when this work has been completed. In the meantime, you can still submit a Ban Complaint slip to Customer Support so the team can assist with recovering your account faster and removing any penalties.
Thank you for your reporting and patience as we work to resolve this issue with affected players.

And followed it up yesterday with a notice saying all bans should now have been reversed. The bans come in the wake of efforts by developers to fix certain areas of the game that were being swamped by bots, particularly the market and auction house.
