Amazon creates 1,500 job opportunities in the UK by 2022
Amazon will create 1,500 new apprentices in the UK by 2022, it said on Wednesday.
The internet giant says it is offering 40 entry-level apprenticeship programs, including new programs in the publishing, retail and marketing sectors and one focused on the environment and society. Society and Corporate Governance (ESG).
Amazon said it has increased its permanent UK workforce by 25,000 by 2021, bringing the total to 70,000.
The group previously announced it would create 10,000 roles by 2021 and end the year with 55,000 permanent employees.
However, it has employed an additional 15,000 for fulfillment centres, sorting centers and delivery stations across the UK as well as for corporate and research and development functions.
Amazon says it has invested £32 billion (about Rs 3,24,607 crore) in the UK since 2010, although it has not broken down that investment.
Its expansion in 2021 includes the first 17 physical stores in the UK – 15 Amazon Fresh grocery store in London, and two 4-star Amazon retail stores in London and Kent, selling a wide range of products from Amazon and UK small businesses.
