Amazon Music streaming prices to rise in US, UK, Canada
Spotify will probably be watching this news very closely.
Amazon confirmed that, from May 5, it is increasing the price of two of its key streaming music plans in multiple markets.
The first of those plans was Amazon Music Unlimited Personal plans – i.e. streaming on-demand, all-you-can-eat – are available to customers who are also members of Amazon Prime.
Former Prime members were able to sign up for this plan in the US for $7.99 every month. From May, this price will increase $8.99 every month.
Additionally, individual Prime Members in the US will be able to subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited for an annual subscription $89 per year, increasing from $79 each year.
Amazon is raising the price of Amazon Music Unlimited Personal Plans (for Prime members) in the US, UK, and Canada, according to Amazon’s FAQ pages in each of these markets.
Amazon Music Unlimited pricing for customers do not have Amazon Prime membership – currently $9.99 per month (US) – won’t change.
Also, Amazon is raising prices Amazon Music Single Device Bundle, gives users access to the full Amazon Music Unlimited service, but is locked to an eligible Echo or Fire TV device.
That plan is now $3.99 every month in the US, and moving up $4.99 every month in May.
The Amazon Music Single Device Bundle is going up in Australia and New Zealand, as well as in France and Brazilplus the US, UK and Canada.
This week, Amazon told affected customers it was “updating the prices of certain Amazon Music Unlimited plans” to “help us bring you more content and features.”
Spotify, the world’s largest audio streaming service, charges individual Premium subscribers in the US $9.99 every month since it hit the market in 2011.
Factoring in inflation, the same amount in real terms only worth $7.99 today.
SPOT increases monthly price of Premium Family in 12 markets in April 2021, including the US, where it went from $14.99 to $15.99.
The company also ‘experiment’ There was a 10% increase in prices on the standard Premium Premium, Student and Family Packages in Norway in July 2018 – and those prices have remained higher since.
Amazon raises prices after US movie streaming giant Netflixits own price increase, which took place earlier this year.
In January, the company raised the price of subscriptions in the US and Canada.
Netflix has increased the cost of its Standard plan, allowing subscribers to stream through two screens at once, from $13.99 every coming month $15.49 every month in the US.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s Basic plan, which only allows subscribers to stream through one screen and download to one device, rose $1, to $9.99 per month in the US.
Netflix’s Premium plan, which allows subscribers to stream through four different screens at once and download to four different devices, has grown by $2 to $19.99 per month.
In the UKthe Amazon Music Single Device Bundle changing from £3.99 to £4.99 every month.
The Amazon Music Unlimited Personal Plan changing from £7.99 to £8.99 per month, or from £79 to £89 each year.
The Amazon Music Single Device Bundle changing from AUD $4.99 to AUD $5.99 every month in Australia and from NZD $5.49 to NZD $6.49 in New Zealand.
While, in Canadathe Amazon Music Single Device Bundle changing from CAD $3.99 to CAD $4.99 per month, while the Amazon Music Unlimited Personal Plan will go from CAD $7.99 to CAD $8.99 per month, or from CAD $79 to CAD $89 each year.
At France, the Amazon Music Single Device Bundle changing from €3.99 to 4.99 € every month.
In Brazilthe Amazon Music Single Device Bundle is changing from R$6.90 to R$8.49 per month.
