Andrew Marr: Veteran broadcaster leaves BBC after 21 years | UK News
Andrew Marr has announced he is leaving the BBC after 21 years.
The veteran journalist and broadcaster, who has presented the Andrew Marr Show on Sunday mornings for the past 16 years, said he will be moving to Global “to write and present political and cultural programs and write for the press”.
Announcing on Twitter, Marr told his followers he “would love to get my own voice back”.
He posted: “Personal notice. After 21 years, I have decided to move from BBC.
“I have left behind many happy memories and wonderful colleagues. But since the new year I have turned to Global to write and present political and cultural programs, and write for newspapers.
“I think British politics and public life will go through an even more tumultuous decade, and as I said, I’d love to get my voice back.”
“I’ve been doing the Andrew Marr show every Sunday morning for 16 years now and that’s probably more than enough time for anyone!”
