Adrien Broner takes on welterweight contender Blair Cobbs in a championship bout on June 7 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
This is the fight that former four-division world champion Broner (35-4-1, 24 KOs) will face next after his victory over Bill Hutchinson last June.

Where does Broner go from here?
Broner is considered washed up in the eyes of many fans, not the fighter he was from 2010 to 2013. He doesn't throw enough punches and isn't fit to fight at the weight class due to his strength not being enough to compete with the top fighters in this weight class.
It's hard to say where Adrien's win over Cobbs will take him. Broner could cash in if he can fight British welterweight Conor Benn or possibly IBF 147-lb champion Jaron 'Boots' Ennis if the Saudis get involved. However, Broner may need a better win against Giovani Santillan or Josh Taylor to put him in position to fight for the world title at welterweight.
There wouldn't be much interest from fans in seeing Broner win the world title after defeating Cobbs because it wouldn't be an important enough victory. Boots Ennis vs. Broner would be a train wreck on PPV if the organizers chose to charge fans to watch the match, and they likely will.
Broner's peak and decline
When Broner was at his best, he fought at 126 and 130, which was too strong for fighters in that weight class. Unfortunately, Broner hurt his career in 2013 by moving up to 147, chasing the payday, and since then he's been on a slow slide.
It's safe to say that the amount of money Broner makes today is nowhere near what he received more than 10 years ago when he fought in the super featherweight division.
Blair Cobbs: A modest test
Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KOs) is technically a step up from Broner's last opponent, but not by much. The 34-year-old Cobbs is not ranked in the top 15 at 147 by any of the four sanctioning bodies, which says a lot.
Cobbs being blown out of the water by Alexis Rocha in nine innings in 2022 could be the reason he's not ranked. Cobbs looked completely outmatched against Rocha and was beaten throughout the entire fight until it was stopped in round nine.
