Announcement of part 5 of video games
Season four of The Video Game is officially over and in the archives after exploring the history of the entire Bioshock series as it is today. In the sequel, hosts Marcus Stewart and John Carson wanted to do something a little different with the series. If you’ve heard ours Bioshock Infinite episode (which you should! We’ve got former GI editor Bryan Vore on board for a great discussion), you already know what’s available in store for next season. For those who haven’t had a chance to listen, we’ll share the beans here and now:
As an experiment, Video Games Season Five will set aside a timeline detailing a video game franchise and instead feature a development studio’s catalog. Introducing Season Five’s theme: Supergiant game
Supergiant Games has been around for more than a decade, and in our eyes the team has yet to be successful. The core team of developers has been with the company since creating the first game Bastion and has only grown in talent since then. Because the studio hasn’t released any sequels and the entire catalog is so important, it makes all the more sense to see how the studio has grown and evolved over the course of the release of four titles. in his Gameography instead of doing stand-alone episodes.
We’re taking a break this week, so expect the first episode to cover Bastion’s development to launch to podcast services at around 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, EST. Subsequent episodes include conversations of Transistor, Pyre, and Hades, each arriving on the next three Saturdays.
