Antoine Griezmann joins Atletico Madrid from Barcelona on a permanent contract
Antoine Griezmann joined again Atlético Madrid on a long-term basis Barcelona Atletico have agreed to reduce the transfer fee from 40 million euros to 20 million euros.
Barca president Joan Laporta revealed on Sunday that Atletico could also have to pay an additional €4 million for “easily achievable add-ons”, with Griezmann agreeing to a contract until 2026 at the Metropolitano.
Barca and Atletico each had a dispute over a clause in the contract when Griezmann returned to Atletico on loan at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.
Griezmann, 31, joins Atletico on a two-year loan deal with a mandatory purchase option of €40m in case he plays more than 45 minutes in 50% of the games he’s featured in.
At one point, Barca declared that clause effective after the first season on loan, even threatened legal action in the event that Atletico fail to comply.

Griezmann has played more than 45 minutes in 30 of the 37 games he has appeared in between 2021-22.
Atlético, meanwhile, start using Griezmann sparingly this seasonput him in after the 60th minute in a series of games in an attempt to reduce the odds of games he hit the threshold.
The France the international signed for Barca from Atletico in 2019 when the Catalan club paid his €120m release clause, a year after he refused to move to Camp Nou at the end of a documentary he recorded called The Decision.
Barca will then pay Atletico another 15 million euroswas believed to be a penalty because they first approached Griezmann when his clause still had 200 million euros, although both clubs denied that was the case at the time.
Instead, they claimed 15 million euros as an upfront payment to Barca when it was first rejected for Saul Niguez, Jose Gimenez and three other players in Atletico’s academy.
Griezmann scored 35 goals in 102 appearances over two years for Barca.
In his first season back at Atletico, where he scored 133 goals in his first spell between 2014 and 2019, Griezmann scored eight goals in 36 games.
