Apple MacBook Air (15-Inch, 2023) Review: Big Screen Love
Apple’s macbook product line Have exist at the extremes in a period of time. If you are someone who needs a powerful machine, you can choose between 14 inches and 16 inches MacBook Pro—two large screen size options for any graphically demanding project you want to work on. “Ordinary people,” like me, who use our laptops to reply to emails, browse the web and the like have been forced to accept a relatively cramped 13-inch screen on their laptop. MacBook Air. Yes, we can buy the larger Pro models, but they start at $2,000.
Now, that’s all changed with the 15-inch MacBook Air—an entirely new size option that manually reorders the MacBook lineup. Apple has brought all the outstanding features it introduced last year 13 inch modelsuch as the redesigned chassis, Magsafe charging, and 1080p webcam, but packed with a great 15.3-inch display while keeping both the device thin and light.
Base 15-inch MacBook Air starts at $1,299 and Apple has slashed the price 13 inch version is 1,099 USD (The original M1-supported MacBook Air from 2020 is still available for $999). Friend Maybe get the most out of this model for a whopping $2,499, but that’s if you want more RAM and massive built-in storage, so it’s mostly unnecessary. At the base price, this 15-inch monitor is worth every penny.
Ideal in the middle
The new MacBook Air has the same boxy frame as its smaller counterpart, matching the sleek look of the MacBook Air high-end MacBook Pro models for a cohesive design throughout the product line. Opening it up, it looks almost identical to the 16-inch MacBook Pro, with a large trackpad and space on both sides of the keyboard.
Instead of adding speakers to this space, Apple integrated them between the keyboard and the display, as it did with last year’s MacBook Air. But because this laptop is larger, it comes equipped with a more powerful six-speaker system, instead of a four-speaker setup, with two tweeters and two sets of attenuated woofers. Apple claims it offers “double bass depth for a fuller sound”. You get the same three-microphone array as before.
The difference in sound quality is noticeable. Last year, I was told that the 13-inch Air sometimes has muffled sound. I turn it all the way up every time I watch a movie. This new MacBook delivers clearer sound and is loud enough that I can keep it maxed out (though it’s still not too loud). I would like to have speakers on the sides to create an almost surround sound effect. It will at least fill the awkward gap on either side of the keyboard.
