Apple reportedly in talks to make Apple Watches, MacBooks in Vietnam

Apple is in talks to produce Apple Watches, MacBooks and HomePods in Vietnam for the first time, Nikkei Asia said Wednesday.
It once again shows how Apple is trying to expand its manufacturing operations outside of China, as it faces supply chain disruptions related to the Covid lockdown and US trade tensions- Middle increased.
Apple has asked suppliers to set up a trial production line for MacBooks, and suppliers have begun trial production of the Apple Watch, according to the report. The company is said to be still in talks to build HomePod speakers in the country.
Mac sales fall short of unanimous expectations in Apple’s third fiscal quarterand sales fell more than 10% year-on-year. Apple’s iPad sales beat expectations but fell 2% year-over-year. CEO Tim Cook said this was due to supply constraints and a strong dollar.
Apple has produced some AirPods in Vietnam and is said to be began moving some iPad production to the country in June.
An Apple spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
