Purebred Juddmonte Rail Link (GB) (Dansili {GB} –Docklands, of Theatrical {Ire}), who won the 2006 G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, suffered a heart attack on Friday and died in Haras de Vains. He is 19 years old.
“Rail Link died on Friday [of] a heart attack,” Adrien Delaroque of Haras de Vains told Jour de Gallop. “I bought him from Haras de Cercy two years ago. I am very happy to have him with me. He is a true champion. ”
Having only been raced at the age of three, cadet Andre Fabre broke her maiden streak in her third start in May 2006, and never lost again. His winning theme began with the G3 Prix du Lys. This was followed by victory at the G1 Grand Prix de Paris in July and the G2 Prix Niel in his warm-up for the Arc. He retired with five wins in seven starts and made $1,976,387.
Originally standing at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud in 2008, he served there throughout the 2014 season and moved to France’s Haras National de Cercy la League for 2015-2016. In 2017, he was transferred to Haras de Cercy and then to Haras de Vains. Dozens of his black category winners are led by Group 1 scorers Epicuris (GB) and Spillway (GB), and he has seven other group winners among them. Half-brother with group winner Crossharbour (GB) (Zamindar), Mainsail (GB) (Oasis dream {GB}) and Chelsea Manor (GB) (Grand Lodge), his trio of black type winners as a male male consisting of two group winners – San Huberto (Ire) (Sightstown) and Alounak (Fr) (Camelot {GB}).
