Ariana DeBose’s Stylists Zadrian + Sarah Talk Tonys 2022
The best part about dressing the presenter Tony Award? You have plenty of opportunities to make your dream mood board come true. For the big night, Ariana DeBose Step into the archives and stylists spotlight Zadrian Smith and Sarah Edmiston (known professionally as Zadrian + Sarah) dressed the Oscar winner in a series of head-turning ensembles.
“It’s not a look – for us, it’s seven,” Smith told POPSUGAR. “The running theme for this, because it’s Broadway, is dramatic. It really allows us to lean on the stage of the moment. “
The duo collaborated with Boss in this effort, working closely with the brand and its new creative director, Marco Falcioni, to create a “very cohesive story” through DeBose’s various outfits. Edmiston revealed that the Boss team shipped the garment from Germany out of concern that they wouldn’t make it.
“We also have five different tailoring teams working around the clock to finish all the details to perfection,” says Edmiston. “And everything is custom.”
They explore themes of fun and theater through fun cuts, angular lines, and vibrant colors like grape pink and electric pink.
“Always on this team, we hope to send a message of inclusion,” says Smith. Edmiston adds: “And optimism – that’s so important to us that everyone feels honored and like they can be part of the story we’re telling.”
Up front, Smith and Edmiston walk through their creative process, how to get ready for the red carpet, and the items they always have on hand in case of a fashion emergency.
