Arrival Runners Top Tattersalls Cheltenham discount
Willmount (GB) (Blue Bresil {Fr}) (lot 8) and Shannon Royale (Ire) (Walking in the park {Ire}) (lot 12) completed one of two in a 4-year-old daughter’s destination at Arriva in Ireland on February 13, and it’s also the order they finished at the top of the leaderboard at Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale on Thursday . Willmount was sold to England coach Neil Mulholland, who saw off the likes of Harold Kirk, Gerry Hogan and Eddie O’meadowry to secure him for £340,000, while Shannon Royale was bought by Mags O’Toole to go to Gordon Elliott for £300,000.
Mulholland said of Willmount, “He’s for owner Oliver Harris, who has a couple of horses with us. The horse was one of the standout horses at the sale, and when I mentioned it to Oliver, he said that eight was his lucky number. The horse is highly recommended and I’m happy to have it on board. His Majesty was about to arrive, and Oliver wanted very much to catch him and stick his neck out. We’ll take him home, we’ll treat him like a good horse, see if we can have a bumper.”
O’Toole said of Shannon Royale, “He was a good big horse, the male was on fire, he had a lovely run with the top lot, he was a horse for the future, he was. won’t rush and start training with Gordon Elliot for an existing client I love how the winner and this horse get off the others, they run fast. He’s gorgeous, he’s got one lovely head on the body.”
A total of 33 horses were sold during the day (89% clearance rate) for a total of £2,718,000. The median is £82,364 and the median is £60,000.
