Arsenal clear Marcelo Flores for Mexico vs. Chile
Arsenal deleted Marcelo Flores to play for Mexico against Chile during a friendly on December 8 in Austin, Texas, outside the FIFA window.
The call-up will be the first time the 18-year-old joins the Mexican senior team. This midfielder also has the option to play for England or Canada.

Arsenal Academy admits call up via a tweet. I’m very proud of you.”
Bringing in the midfielder is an important step for the Mexican Football Federation (FMF), knowing well that the Canadian-born midfielder also has the choice of playing for England or Canada. Earlier this year, Flores was included in Canada’s provisional roster for the 2021 Gold Cup.
Because the upcoming game against Mexico is a friendly, Flores will still be able to weigh his options for national team allegiance between the three nations.
Looking forward to 2022, Flores could become the new addition to the Mexican senior team that is suffering two defeats in CONCACAF’s World Cup qualifiers. Mexico is currently in third place in the qualifying group and needs to remain in the top three to secure an automatic spot for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
