Assam Man villagers with heads over Rs 500, arrived at the police station with their heads cut off
Guwahati:
An Assam man is accused of beheading people in his village after fighting over a stake of Rs 500 during a football match. After the brutal attack, he walked with his head severed for 25 kilometers to the police station where he turned himself in, police officials said.
The incident happened Monday in the Sonitpur district of northern Assam after a football match held for Independence Day ended, the official said.
The victim had previously asked the defendant for a loan of Rs 500, but the defendant refused, the police source added.
After the match, defendant Tuniram Madri, who had won a goat after a football match, asked Boila Hemram to accompany him to the slaughterhouse. Hemram refused to go with him. This allegedly angered Tuniram Madri and he carried out the attack, officials said.
After the murder, the accused went home with the severed head. His brother is said to have tried to hit him but he fled. Tuniram Madri then walked 25 km to the police station and surrendered with his head severed. He also handed over the machete with which he killed Hemram, the official added.
“He has been detained for questioning, and all aspects of the case are under investigation,” the official added.
The victim and the accused belong to the same community.
