Audi RS6, RS7 2023 performance revealed
Audi has stormed its four-door coupe and five-door wagon by storm.
The RS6 Avant and RS7 sports back now features a new ‘performance’ trim, with more power, a new center differential, new wheels and tires as well as a host of trim upgrades over the standard car.
It is not yet clear whether RS6 and RS7 performance will drop.
Power still comes from the 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine, but the RS6 and RS7 now have 463kW and 850Nm. That’s a power boost of 22kW and 50Nm on the regular models, thanks to the larger turbines producing 2.6 bar (+0.2 bar) gain.
An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard and has been retuned to shift gears faster when you’re going straight and move more smoothly on the road.
The 100 km/h sprint takes 3.4 seconds, down from 3.6 seconds in the standard car, and you’ll hit 305 km/h with the speed limiter removed.
Beneath the skins, Audi has tweaked the center differential in its quattro all-wheel drive system. It is smaller and lighter, and is capable of transmitting up to 70% of the engine’s torque to the front axle or 85% to the rear axle.
“Clearly more precise cornering, which helps to reduce understeer at the handling limits,” is what Audi promises from the updated system.
21-inch wheels are standard, but 22 are optional. They are wrapped in Continental Sport Contact 7 tyres, and in the case of larger wheels that reduce the car’s springless mass by 20kg.
Along with the wheels you will be able to recognize the ‘performance’ models thanks to their Matte Silver or Ascari metallic paint options. There are plenty of matte gray add-ons available, though matte carbon is optional.
Inside, the performance RS6 and RS7 stand out with microfiber trim slats, complete with decorative accents and contrasting stitching.
