Auguste Rodin tops the field of 8 for Doncaster’s G1 Vertem Futurity title

Aidan O’Brien slashed his overnight entry from eight to two for the £200,000 G1 Vertem Futurity on Saturday in Doncaster, Europe’s last Minor Group 1 competition of the season . TDN Rising Star and G2 Golden Fleece S. won Auguste Rodin (Ire) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) is Ryan Moore’s mount and has been allotted stall six for the one-mile test. He will be joined by maiden winner Navan Salt Lake City (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who will depart from square eight. The host defense was led by John and G3 runner-up Autumn S. Epictetus (Ire) (King {GB}), who pulled the seventh post. Ballydoyle also sent a group of three to Saint-Cloud, with Spy (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) started the one-mile G1 Criterium International earlier in the afternoon and Adelaide River (Ire) (Australia {GB}) and Covent Garden (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) claimed the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud is 10 feathers long. TDN Rising Star and G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere finished third Breizh Sky (Fr) (Pedro The Great) led the home team’s defense in the previous competition while only two athletes trained in France–Strako (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}) and Sylphid (GB) (Zoffany {Ire}) – line up against a foreign challenger of seven strong in the latter.
