Austin’s US Grand Prix extends F1 deal to 2026
The US Grand Prix will continue to be held in Austin until 2026 after venue Circuit of the Americas (COTA) won a new contract with Formula One.
COTA has been one of the prominent venues on the F1 calendar since its first race in 2012. According to figures released by Formula One, the circuit welcomed 400,000 crowds over the three days of the year event. last.
Last year, COTA boss Bobby Epstein said he was “very confident” about securing a new contract.
With the F1 boom currently underway in the US and the popularity of the venue, it seems highly unlikely that a new deal will not be struck.
On Friday, COTA and F1 confirmed a new five-year deal, starting with this year’s race in October.
COTA has played a huge role in resetting F1 in the US over the last decade, which has been helped in recent years by the hugely popular Netflix series ‘Drive to Survive’.
That growing popularity is evident in the F1 schedule, with the Miami Grand Prix at Hard Rock Stadium taking place for the first time this year on May 8. Miami signed a 10-year hosting deal with F1.
It is understood that F1 is getting closer to an agreement to bring the third US race to Las Vegas in time for the 2023 season.
