Battlefield 2042 is the latest game in Electronic Arts (EA)’s first-person shooter series. The new multiplayer game is the first title in the franchise to support cross-play. However, players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can only play against each other and not against other platforms. This is the first time a Battlefield title has not had a single player mode. Players have the option to play offline but no campaign or story modes.
The latest Battlefield title allows 128 players to destroy their surroundings and create chaos in an all-out war that lasts 30 minutes. Players were able to experience the game early through the open beta released early on October 6. EA Play Subscribers had a chance to try the game for a limited time, and players who purchased the Gold and Ultimate versions got early access to the game on November 12.

Battlefield 2042 is set to release on Friday, November 19. It’s not supposed to be. It was originally scheduled for October 22 – however, it was almost months-long delay in the launch due to continuity COVID-19 epidemic.
“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams,” said EA DICE CEO Oskar Gabrielson.

In addition, players will need a minimum of 100GB of free hard drive space with their PC running on 64-bit Windows 10 with DirectX 12. No word on if Battlefield 2042 is supported on Windows 11, but you would expect it to be.
Battlefield Version 2042
Battlefield 2042 comes in three versions – Standard, Gold and Ultimate. The following benefits are available to players who pre-order the game.
Standard Edition players will receive the legendary Irish tough skin – Battle, the Baku ACB-90 Epic melee knockdown knife, “Mr. The Chompy epic weapon enchantment, the “Landfall” player card background and the “Old Guard” tag.
Gold Edition players will receive a Year 1 Card with four new specialists, four Battle Cards, and three Epic skin packs on and on the Standard Edition.
Similarly, Ultimate Edition players will receive the Midnight Ultimate bundle, the official digital art book, and an exclusive digital soundtrack along with all the perks of the Gold Edition.

If you can’t/don’t go the EA Play Pro route, the Battlefield 2042 Standard Edition is priced at Rs. 2,999 on Origin, Steam, and Epic game (for PC). The Gold Edition is priced at Rs. 4,799, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at Rs. 5,999.

On Xbox One S, the game has a download size of 27.9GB. The Battlefield 2042 size is about 33GB on Xbox One X. And on the next-gen Series X, you’re looking at a 51GB download or so. Players can experience three modes in Battlefield 2042: All-Out Warfare, Battlefield Portal and Battlefield Hazard Zone. The All-Out Warfare mode features two sub-modes – Conquest and Breakthrough – and features dynamic weather. The Battlefield Portal allows players to experience Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3. Players also have the option of using their arsenal from Battlefield 2042 in the three games above. Danger Zone mode teams up with four players who must locate critical data drives while battling the opposition.
In addition, EA has incorporated seven maps including Hourglass based in Doha, Qatar, Removed based in Alang, India, Clearly based at Brani Island, Singapore, kaleidoscope based in Songdo, Korea, Trajectory based in Kourou, French Guiana, Secession based in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica, and Innovation based in the Eastern Desert, Egypt.
Battlefield 2042 players have the ability to respawn in a fighter jet, attack helicopter, or simply call an available vehicle near their location.
Since the new Battlefield title is set in the near future – the year 2042 – it features a bunch of futuristic weapons and gadgets. The “Plus” system allows players to customize their weapons on the spot.
Players can still choose from four traditional Battlefield characters under the Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon classes. Each character can be equipped with all of the weapons and gadgets the player has unlocked, while each character has their own unique skills and gadgets.
Dynamic weather – tornadoes and sandstorms – will affect gameplay and ‘Levolution’ and destructive environments from Battlefield 4 can be experienced in the upcoming game.

Early reviews of Battlefield 2042 showed that the game lived up to critics’ expectations. Some critics say that going the multiplayer route gives the game a breath of fresh air.
Above Metacritic, Battlefield 2042 currently has a total score of 76 out of 100, based on 39 critic reviews.
On the other hand, on Open Critic, the new Battlefield title is available scored a total of 74 points out of 100, based on 49 reviews.
