Via Sean Jones: David Benavidez stabbed Canelo Alvarez, Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo on Tuesday during his virtual press conference because they didn’t want to fight him.
Canelo has filled all of his slots for 2022 and 2023 on his schedule, and it’s fair to say Benavidez will not be part of his image.
Benavidez says Plant, Canelo and Charlo look very confident in their appearance, but when it comes to a risky fight against him, their fear will betray them.
If none of those three agree to fight undefeated WBC 168-lb No. 1 contender Benavidez (25-0, 22 KOs) soon, he said he’ll move up to light heavyweight.
Benavidez has a good chance of winning the WBC belt if Canelo refuses to fight him because he is about to become the interim WBC super-middleweight champion.
They don’t want to get into fights with Benavidez and instead they make fights easier with soft targets.

Next month, Benavidez faces David Lemieux on Showtime in the Premier Boxing Champions event on May 21 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
The winner of the Benavidez vs Lemieux showdown will hold the provisional 168-lb WBC title. If Benavidez can get his hands on that belt, he can pressure the World Boxing Council to order Canelo to fight him.
“David Lemieux accepted the fight as soon as the WBC ordered it, unlike Caleb Plant, unlike Canelo, unlike [Jermall] Charlo and others,” David Benavidez said during his virtual press conference on Tuesday.
Former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant is about to lose to Canelo, and next he could face Benavidez’s knockout victim, 37-year-old Anthony Dirrell.
With Dirrell winning just one match in the last three competitions. He’s clearly past his age, sadly Plant chose to fight this type of opponent.
“They are very confident in their heads, but they are afraid to fight. That’s why I have a lot of respect for David Lemieux because he came out right away,” Benavidez said.
“Charlo is fighting with a guy [Maciej Sulecki], who hasn’t even been a world champion before. I want to stay at 168 until I make all the big fights I can,” Benavidez said.
WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo is choosing to face Demetrius Andrade’s old rival Maciej Sulecki next instead of Benavidez.
