Berlin approves $1.7 billion sale of PzH 2000 howitzers to Ukraine
German arms manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) on Wednesday confirmed that the German Government has approved the sale of self-propelled artillery vehicles to Ukraine.
Quoting a spokesman for the manufacturer KMW, Der Spiegel reports that Germany has approved the sale of 100 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers (Panzerhaubitze) worth 1.7 billion euros ($1.72 billion) to Ukraine.
As Spiegel reports, KMW has already begun production of the driving devices, which will take several years to fully run.

In addition, in early June, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine had received the first German-made 155 mm cannons donated by Berlin to support against the Russian army.
“Panzerhaubitze 2000 is finally part of the 155 mm howitzer arsenal of the Ukrainian artillery force,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov tweeted, adding, “I appreciate the efforts of my colleagues. , Christine Lambrecht,” referring to the German Defense Minister. Reznikov also thanked the Netherlands, which sent weapons to Germany.
Ukraine has received 12 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers funded by the Dutch and German governments.
The Panzerhaubitze 2000 is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer developed by the German manufacturers KMW and Rheinmetall and is considered one of the most powerful artillery systems in use by the Western military today.
