Big 12 publicly rebukes Texas Tech football radio announcers who are dropped from next game call
The Big 12 on Wednesday issued a public rebuke of Texas Technology football radio announcers for their call of Saturday’s 41-38 home win State of Iowa.
Game-by-game host Brian Jensen and analyst John Harris criticized match officials, going so far as to list out individual names.
As a result, the league also said Jensen and Harris will be dropped from this weekend’s home call with Oklahoma State.
“I understand the role of color analyst and each game,” Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement. “However, as representatives of the University, they are also obligated to comply with Conference policy regarding comments on game officials. Comments by announcers in the Red booth Raider Radio Network is contrary to the level of respect and professionalism expected. Question the integrity of Conference officials and specifically urge members of the operating crew to go beyond appropriate behavior and licensed. “
After the officials passed a clear intercept on the target line by the Red Raiders defending back Dadrion Taylor-Demerson With 7:25 left in the fourth quarter, Texas Tech publishers were dubious.
“I’ll say it right now, the Big 12 don’t want Iowa State to lose this game,” Harris said.
“Yes, Bob Bowlsby, you need to answer this,” Jensen added. “It’s ridiculous. This arbitration panel’s contradiction in favor of the state of Iowa. It’s unbelievable.”
Texas Tech students began throwing trash on the field after the interceptor overturned. Officials issued a call for unsportsmanlike conduct for the Red Raiders, and students were ordered to leave two sections and leave the stadium.
Jensen claims he has never seen anything like this official performance.
“The Big 12 should be ashamed,” he said. “The Big 12 should be ashamed of this group. We’ll only point to two. I’ll read it all to you.”
Jensen then continued to publicize the names of every member of the crew.
Jensen also tweeted in-game about a call, asking why there was no review of a game that supposedly intercepted, despite the tight ending. Travis Koontz appeared to have dropped by contact before the ball fell off.

Texas Tech interim coach Sonny Cumbie called the timeout, but officials declined to review the play. Red Raiders also make an exception for some pass jamming calls.
Texas Tech fans have been vocal about being official on social media, and the team’s Twitter account even alluded to it in the final score announcement.
