After revealing about its light weight M4 CSL coupes, BMW car confirmed executives M3 Touring will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2022.
BMW confirmed this reveal date at a press event where the executives once again showed off a part M3 Touring pre-production model.
We already know that BMW will reveal a new M car at the 2022 Speed Festivalbut it’s not clear exactly what the car will look like.
BMW M3 Touring is confirmed for the Australian marketalthough we don’t know when it will arrive Down Under.
It is said to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 375kW of power and 650Nm of torque. This is the same engine as the higher spec Competition M3 and Competition M4.
The M3 Touring will come with an exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. It also has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 10.3L/100km.
On the eve of the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, BMW employees were also watched for the eleventh time testing a camouflaged M3 Touring prototype.
Unlike previous teaser and spy photowe got a closer look at the interior of the M3 Touring.
Unsurprisingly, this spying M3 Touring prototype confirms that it will receive the same BMW Curved Display as the regular and updated M3 sedan. 3 lines sedans and wagons.
In these cars, the curved dashboard features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
This curved dash runs the latest BMW 8 Operating System featuring a new map display, enhanced intelligent voice assistants, and for M vehicles, the interface includes an M-specific layout.
This spy prototype, still wearing the same black and white camouflage trim, shows that BMW is gearing up for a record production wagon lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. It is currently held by Mercedes-AMG E63 WILL BEcovered the Blue Hell in 7:45:19.
BMW’s reluctance to develop a long-roofed M3 has long proved puzzling, especially since it applied the M name to its tuned versions. X3, X4, X5 and X6 SUV car.
Rival Audi has a rich heritage in high-performance wagons. The company’s first RS-branded car was the RS2 Avant, which was succeeded by the first generation RS4 which is also only offered as a wagon.
Likewise, Mercedes-Benz has always offered a wagon version of its hottest, AMG sedan C-Class Models.
When it’s revealed, the BMW M3 Touring will be the first mass-produced long-top M car in the range’s long and long history. The company built only one prototype E46 M3 wagon in 2000.
BMW has always left high-performance wagons to brands like Alpina to solve the problem.
