Boomplay, arguably Africa’s largest music streaming platform, has partnered with France-based Hip Hop and Soul radio station Generations Radio to launch ‘Africa Top Chart Show’ to promote promote African music and highlight African artists.
The music streaming platform says the partnership established the Africa Top Charts program as the first African music chart to be shown on mainstream radio in France. Generations Radio has more than 200,000 daily listeners.
The charts will be taken from Boomplay’s Africa chart and produced by Generations Radio.
According to a press release, the show showcases top songs from Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and many other African countries weekly and “highlights new artists, songs and developments important musical developments across Africa”.
Top Chart Africa is broadcast live on Generations Radio from studios in Paris every Sunday from 8-9pm GMT+1 in French and English.
The French format is a live radio and podcast show hosted by Ornella and the English version in podcast format, presented by Cleopatra, with both shows featuring special guests.
