Boots Ennis calls Crawford: “There's no one else left”
New Matchroom subscriber Jaron' Boots; Ennis doubted whether the company would have much luck trying to set up a fight between him and Terence Crawford.
Expect Crawford's payday
Some fans believe the 36-year-old Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) is waiting for an eight-figure salary worth $10-15 million to be given to him for his next fight, and that has not occur. It was a one-time thing and it was because of Spence.
Crawford has been on a long winning streak, still reliving the glory of his win over a lean, weary Errol Spence last July, making it big instead of going back to work. It was amazing how Crawford got that win.
Can you imagine if everyone took a year off after a good day at work? Where will we all be? I couldn't understand because that kind of behavior was foreign to me.
Ennis: The only viable option
Whether Crawford wanted to admit it to himself or not, Boots Ennis was his only chance at a big payday. He can forget about getting the powder he received in his final fight with Errol Spence Jr. last July because that didn't happen.
Terence won't get that powder to take on Boots Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs), which is a much riskier fight than the ones he's eyeing against Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu .
Crawford wanted Canelo Alvarez to bless him with a golden parachute retirement, but that didn't happen. As soon as Crawford gets that crazy notion out of his head, he can return to reality and fight Boots.
The clock is ticking, Terence
If Crawford stays out of the ring long enough, fans will forget about him and he won't be able to make big money. He will just be seen as another type of Keith Thurman, who rarely fought and is only remembered by older fans.
“I'm not sure. He's said several times that he's not looking in my direction; I'm not a big enough name. But there's no one left for him to fight anymore. Either you fight me, or you not fighting anyone,” Jaron Ennis told Fighting room Boxing about the fight between him and Crawford.
